Dr. Shirin Hooshmand is a Registered Dietitian and a distinguished Professor of Nutrition at San Diego State University. She earned her doctoral degree and completed post-doctoral training in Nutrition, Food, and Exercise Sciences at Florida State University.

Dr. Hooshmand specializes in nutritional research focused on aging, actively developing interventions to improve age-related physiological changes. Recognized for her academic contributions, Dr. Hooshmand has been honored with numerous awards, including the San Diego State University Outstanding Faculty Award, the Graduate Professor of the Year Award, and the Senate Distinguished Teaching Award.
